Christmas day

What a delight to land in the bright heat of Kuwait, early in the morning on Christmas day!

Lunch outside but in the shade - too hot otherwise.

Exploring old dhows

The car museum

Edris

On Boxing day, Andrew took his long lens to the top of the building.

We went down to the old souk and bought kebabs from this guy:

This guy sold us a burner and some incredibly expensive wood. We stayed at the cheaper end of the counter and still paid around £1 per gramme.

On the 27th, a trip up to the Free Zone to photograph the wildlife

Then a trip down to Fahaheel

The morning of the 28th found us in a local school, flying kites.

A moment's break to relax under a tree and then off into the distant desert to hunt with birds.

The 30th finds us back in the old souk. The money changers caught our eye. We estimate that to be around £25,000 in £50 notes in just one bundle in one of a dozen stalls, protected by no more than a glass counter.

The afternoon brings us to Binaider where we flew the vlags for the first time.

In the evening, off to Mubarack's camp in the desert

Friday 31st is the main kite flying day. We head off down the road with the longest name in Christendom to the flying field in Binaider.

We have a new train of fish by Rober van Wier.

Fun and games in Binaider

Trying to take a group photo is chaos when Edris is involved.

Coffee and singing in the tent

We start the new year as we mean to go on. Flying kites in the desert.

Kathleen like cats. Even strays.
