Hambledon Horse Trials

We have never been to horse trials before, so we looked up a local event in Hambledon, near Henley. It was a pleasant surprise. We expected a hideous entrance fee but it was only 5 quid for parking. We expected snootyness towards "non-horse" folk but everyone was friendly. We expected restricted access and "elf and safety" nonsense, but found excellent access and common sense. And then, to top it all, the riders were galloping through a bluebell wood in full bloom.

It is the first time that we have shot horses, so there was plenty to learn. There were plenty of pictures with heads chopped off or feet chopped off. We found that half the time that a horse is galloping, it has it's hooves sticking out in a wierd, ungainly pose. And of course, bluebells only want to grow in dark, shady places
